Press Release

Terumo BCT's Lakewood, Colorado Operations and COVID-19

Healthcare supplies are considered essential

Lakewood, Colo., USA Terumo BCT’s global headquarters are based in Lakewood, Colo., where the company makes medical supplies. This work is considered a critical business during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis issued an executive order effective 24 March 2020 at 5 p.m. local time requiring Colorado businesses to reduce in-person workforces by 50%. Terumo BCT is exempt from the requirements of the order, as we manufacture medical supplies used to treat critically ill patients and to collect and process blood and blood products.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as at all other times, a safe, sustainable and readily available supply of blood and medical therapies are vital to those with serious conditions and diseases.

Even as we continue manufacturing healthcare products in Lakewood, and even though we are exempt from the requirements of the executive order, our Colorado-based and U.S. employees who do not directly support manufacturing and who are able to do their jobs from home are working remotely. We also are taking appropriate precautions to minimize the risk for manufacturing employees, including physical distancing, increased cleaning and disinfection of all work areas and measures to encourage associates with even mild cold or flu symptoms to stay home.

Terumo BCT's global COVID-19 response team is regularly assessing the situation and determining appropriate actions to inform stakeholders and meet the needs of our employees, customers and the industry.
