Our commitment to healthy associates has earned Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies two top honors in 2018.

For the fourth year in a row, Terumo BCT has been recognized as one of 2018 100 Healthiest Employers in America in recognition of our associates' commitment to improving their health and taking advantage of our exceptional corporate wellness program. We were ranked 25 out of 100 companies on the list.

In addition, for the second time, Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies has received the Gold Workplace Health Achievement recognition from the American Heart Association for taking significant steps to build a culture of health in the workplace.

For many years, Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies has invested in associate wellness programs. We do this because we firmly believe in both the benefit to the associate and the ability of the business to provide products and solutions that improve lives. Highlights of our 2018 wellness program include:

  • 85% utilization of the on-site Fitness Center in 2018 (11.84% increase from 2017)
  • 443 associates participated in one or more monthly Knowledge Series (63.47% increase from 2017)
  • 1,449 associates participated in Incentive Challenges/Programs (47.78% increase from 2017)
  • 891 wellness coaching appointments (4.64% increase from 2017)
  • 891 associates screened during our three biometric screening clinics (12% increase from 2017)
  • Provided flu shots to 762 associates (10% increase from 2017)
  • 500 associates attended our on-site Health Fair

Lakewood Campus Amenities

Our global headquarters in Lakewood, Colorado, is home to more than 2,500 associates who can enjoy a wide array of amenities that support our commitment to wellness and sustainability.

  • 53-acre campus with easy access to walking paths and extensive outdoor gathering spaces
  • Multiple on-site cafeterias with fresh food options
  • Tobacco-free campus (prior to implementation, more than 50 associates took advantage of company-offered cessation classes, tools and support, and free nicotine gum and patches)
  • EcoPass for all associates with a light rail station adjacent to campus
  • On-site fitness center with 24/7 access and free classes
  • On-site occupational health clinic staffed by two full-time nurses
  • On-site wellness coach



Global Education Assistance

We make learning accessible to every associate, regardless of role or location, and we encourage them to participate in opportunities for both personal and professional development. During 2018, Terumo BCT reimbursed more than USD $500,000 to more than 170 associates worldwide through our Global Education Assistance Program, bringing our five-year total investment in this program to USD $2.9 million.

Each year, the company honors associates around the globe who have balanced the rigors of work, life and academic studies. The Honor Roll Class of 2018 was made up of 19 associates from all areas of the company who earned degrees in the past 12 months. A luncheon and ceremony with our CEO is held each year to recognize their great achievements.
