Our Grant Program encourages investigators to apply for funding for novel scientific or clinical research that has the potential to improve disease treatments, patient outcomes and the quality and safety of health care. Through support of these initiatives, we are contributing to research that will ultimately lead to more treatment options for patients.

Terumo BCT proudly provides funding for qualified independent efforts focused on educating medical personnel, patients and the public on topics related to our expertise.

The goal of these efforts is to improve patient outcomes and further medical advances.

Advancing Apheresis Award

Together with our customers, we are advancing apheresis to ultimately benefit the patients we all serve. Through the Advancing Apheresis Award, Terumo BCT awards educational grants to sites that best display their dedication to advancing apheresis.

Guidelines

How To Apply

Step 1	Review the grant and investigator-initiated research eligibility criteria to help understand the types of submissions we accept.
Step 2	Review the application checklist to prepare all of the detailed information and additional forms required prior to submitting your request.
Step 3	Complete the Online Submission and upload the additional information requested.
Step 4	Once completed and submitted, your grant or investigator-initiated research proposal will be assessed by the Terumo BCT review committee, and a determination of approval or denial will be assigned to the proposal.
Step 5	If your investigator-initiated research proposal is approved, you may be required to provide additional details, including a full study protocol and research budget, prior to finalization. If your education grant or charitable contribution request is approved, you will receive a letter of support and further instructions to complete the process.

Eligibility Criteria

Education Grants and Charitable Contributions

Terumo BCT supports organizations, activities and initiatives that satisfy one or more of the following criteria:

Broadens health care professionals' knowledge and understanding of disease states and treatment options
Supports a documented educational need
Enhances the understanding of emerging therapies and incorporates evidence-based medicine where applicable
Supports general activities of a nonprofit 501(c)(3) or global equivalent
Supports patient advocacy programs for quality health care

The following organizations are eligible to submit a request for grant funding:

Academic medical centers
Hospitals
Medical education communication companies
Medical/professional associations
Medical schools and other health science schools
Patient support/advocacy groups
Universities/colleges
Tax-exempt organizations (for example, in the U.S., 501(c)(3) entities)

Terumo BCT will consider funding any of these types of eligible programs for education grants:

Certified and uncertified continuing medical education (CME)
Satellite symposia
Visiting professorships
Grand rounds
Patient education events
Regional seminars
Fellowship support
Society meetings
Enduring material (print, audio, digital)

Investigator-Initiated Research Grants

Terumo BCT reviews investigator-initiated research proposals seeking financial or material support. Investigators from the United States and all other geographies may use this process.

Investigator-initiated studies are completely managed by a sponsor-investigator, who independently performs all the necessary work on the study, including creating the concept and design, developing the protocol, following necessary regulatory and legal requirements, collecting data, conducting the statistical analysis and publishing the study.

Terumo BCT is not responsible for writing, submitting or conducting the study.

Sponsor-investigators are required to follow their local regulatory requirements for investigational studies. The following organizations are eligible to submit investigator-initiated requests for research funding:

Academic medical centers
Hospitals
Medical education communication companies
Medical/professional associations
Medical schools and other health science schools
Patient support/advocacy groups
Universities/colleges
Tax-exempt organizations (for example, in the U.S., 501(c)(3) entities)

As a condition of approval, Terumo BCT reserves the right to audit the use of the grant or donation.

Question: Who is eligible for a grant or charitable contribution?

Answer: Review the information here for details about eligible individuals and organizations.

Question: I have submitted an application. How long will it take to hear back about my grant/charitable contribution/investigator-initiated research request?

Answer: Review times may vary; however, applicants can expect a response within 60 days of submitting an application via the online portal. In some cases, this response may indicate that additional time is required to review the application.

Question: In addition to or instead of financial support, can I request product support through the online portal?

Answer: Yes, applicants may request both financial and ancillary support, including Terumo BCT products.

Question: When can I submit a grant/charitable contribution/investigator-initiated research request?

Answer: With the exception of annual award grants, requests may be submitted at any time throughout the year. Award grant requests are accepted only during the timeframes outlined on the applicable site, and requests are submitted through a separate form.

Question: I have a question regarding a request; who can I contact?

Answer: Please submit any questions relating to grants/charitable contributions/investigator-initiated research requests using the Terumo BCT online Contact Us Form , with the exception of questions related to the annual award grants. For annual award grants, please see contact information on the individual websites.
