Terumo BCT and CSL Plasma Mutually Agree to Terminate Existing Supply Agreement

Lakewood, Colo., October 8, 2026 — Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies (Terumo BCT) entered the source plasma market through a collaboration with CSL Plasma to address the industry’s need for innovation in plasma collection. The Rika Plasma Donation System introduced a next-generation technology that disrupted the source plasma collection market.

Since its introduction, the economics required to continue investment in the platform became increasingly challenging, including substantial unforeseen costs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and global supply chain disruptions. CSL Plasma's decision to transition a portion of its collection centers to another technology platform, further increased pressure on an already unprofitable agreement. After further evaluations, the companies have mutually agreed to terminate the contract, resulting in a material impairment for Terumo. Terumo BCT and CSL Plasma will work together to ensure a smooth transition of collection centers while minimizing disruption to operations and donors.

This decision relates specifically to the CSL Plasma contract and does not change Terumo BCT's commitment to its other customers, including blood centers, hospitals, therapeutic apheresis, and cell therapy customers, or the patients who depend on our technologies and therapies.

Plasma is critical to healthcare both for transfusion medicine and as the raw material used to manufacture life-saving protein therapies and specialized medicines. Terumo BCT will continue supporting customers and its patients who rely on plasma through its broader portfolio.
