The Importance of Blood for Africa’s Mothers
High-level panel on the sidelines of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly

The Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) and Terumo BCT are hosting a conversation on the importance of blood for Africa’s mothers with some of the most influential policymakers and thought leaders in the field.


Panel objectives:

  • Raise awareness among regional and global stakeholders on the importance of blood for African mothers and highlight current activities
  • Share the latest research, policy debates and statistics on the value of blood for sub-Saharan Africa
  • Convene stakeholders and identify partners to collaborate on potential initiatives related to an adequate, safe, and sustainable blood supply in Africa
