LAKEWOOD, Colo.—September 28, 2010— CaridianBCT, a leading global provider of technology, products and services in the blood banking, transfusion medicine and cell therapy industries, today announced it has installed the largest private, commercial solar installation by a medical device company in the state of Colorado.
"From water and energy conservation efforts to the use of recycled materials within our buildings, we continue to identify and adopt sustainability practices within our various facilities," said David Perez, president and CEO of CaridianBCT.
The solar panel installation will provide 183 million kilowatts or approximately two percent of CaridianBCT's electricity requirements, an amount which equates to the removal of 550,000 lbs. of CO2 annually, or the equivalent of 14 average households.
The Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES), the Colorado chapter of the American Solar Energy Society, recently took a tour of CaridianBCT's facility as part of their efforts to increase awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of renewable energy. "CaridianBCT is representative of an increasing number of leading Colorado organizations incorporating renewable energy and sustainability into their operations and culture," said Tony Frank, executive director at CRES. "The facility provided an excellent opportunity for our members to learn from an innovative company."
