Annual award recognizes Colorado companies committed to international trade

LAKEWOOD, Colo.—May 18, 2012—Terumo BCT has won a prestigious export award from the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT). Terumo BCT, which has its global headquarters in Lakewood and serves customers in more than 120 countries and territories, was acclaimed for its leadership as a large-sized Colorado company demonstrating excellence in international exporting of products and services.

KEY FACTS:

• OEDIT Executive Director Ken Lund presented the award to Terumo BCT and to the mid-sized and small-sized company recipients on May 17 at the 2012 World Trade Day event.
• World Trade Day 2012 was held at Infinity Park, 4400 East Kentucky Avenue, Denver.
• The Governor's Award for Excellence in Exporting has been given annually for more than 40 years.
• Terumo BCT serves three primary customer segments: Blood Centers, Hospitals & Therapeutic Apheresis Centers and Biotech & Cell Processing.
• The Terumo BCT organization exports products and services related to apheresis, whole blood processing, cellular therapies, therapeutic apheresis, pathogen reduction technologies, cell expansion devices and disposable medical kits.
• More than 100 associates are dedicated to product and service exporting.
• Exports account for about 60 percent of Terumo BCT's overall revenue.
• Terumo BCT holds internationally recognized certifications including the CE mark and International Standards Organization (ISO) 14000.
